68 302 power steering hose routing with long tubes

I have been fighting these hoses for a about 2hr now. I had hoses on the car for a short while before the both wore or burned through due to the headers. I have looked all over for the routing. I keep seeing this bracket with insulator at the lower control arm but my car appears to have what is left of that bracket but it’s mounted up next to the motor mount. There’s no way it’s of any use with the headers. Also all pictures I see show a two piece hoses and all the ones I’ve ever installed on these cars are single piece. I feel like I’m losing it. I think this is the first time I’ve done a 68 with headers so that has to be the headache and ps we are talking the pressure and return off the pump only

You need to switch to 68 big block or 69 power steering hoses. they go down instead of up and clear the headers.

Ok awesome that’s easy enough. Will the pressure line on the pump side match up? By that I mean the fitting on the back of the pump.

You will have to change to the 69 pump housing so the return line tips down. We have pics that show routing.

Hi Don, The pictures aren’t showing up on the link (on where to mount the bracket). Can you send them or updated the pictures on the link?

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I’m going to switch to the big block P/S routing soon myself. I was wondering if anyone had any pics or info on mounting the bracket, looks like a tricky job.
