Royce were those done free hand. They almost look like they vary in width down the length of them. Look nice though. Now it’s time for ROM. I’ll nominate you and you can nominate me, and kick my butt
Sure enjoyed following this project. Now what am I going to watch???

He did them free hand yes. Took about 30 minutes for the whole car.

It’s not done yet, I am into the rework / details still.

Today I pulled the engine back out due to a noisy starter. I am replacing the ring gear / flex plate and the starter drive to make sure it’s fixed.
Here’s what the original flex plate looked like:

Pulling the engine is an all day job when everything is nice and there is no room for error!

The new flex plate is on and it’s ready to go back in.

Royce, Looks great to me. I owned a new Cougar just like yours (now owned by Chris in SEA) except mine (now his) was red with red leather seats. The Cardinal Red and matt black stripe and hood scope are right on to my 50 year old memory.

Man that’s a tuff break after the fact , that’s a job you do minimum help, good luck

Royce
You have done an amazing job with your restoration and documentation. I’m looking forward to seeing more images and your car in person some day.

Thank you for sharing all of your detailed work.

It’s back in and all is good with the starter now thanks I believe to the NOS Motorcraft starter drive. The original ring gear still looks fine to me but it’s replaced with a new one too.

Thanks Gavin! It will debut in it’s first judged show this November at MCACN.

Clock is still running and keeping decent time as of March 26, 2020.

Just got done reading through your rebuild. Hats off to you, the car looks amazing. You got skills for sure. I’ll be using some of the info and tips from that thread during my project, I’m sure they’ll help a lot.

Still tinkering with it and making progress on the list of peeves which is getting smaller. One issue was the original AM / 8 track stereo. It never sounded very good even though I sent it to a specialist to get the capacitors replaced, new power transistors and new belt. It functioned and the AM Radio part sounded OK but the music from the 8 track had a garbled sound.

Doing a bit of research the speakers I had installed were 5 1/2" Pioneer 4 ohm speakers. The factory speakers were 8 ohm impedance. I got to reading about impedance on various stereo buff internet sites. All of them said that the impedance was critical if the circuit was not designed for a low impedance speaker.

Anyways I found some 8 ohm Pyle speakers that fit the stock enclosures. Soldered on the wires and installed them. Big improvement!

Where did you find the speakers? And who refurbed your radio? I need both.
