68 Rear Glass Trim Removal

Looking for tips on removing the back glass trim. I was able to remove the front trim with no problem, but the back glass is a different story. Are there any video’s out there? The trim is so tight to the seal that I can hardly get the trim removal tool inserted to even find a clip. I have attached a pic of the tool that I am using. Is there a different tool?

Any direction is appreciated…

That is the right tool, its all about feel and as you know takes some experience. Go slow and take your time and they will come off.

yep mine was a pita too since it had never been removed and the rubber was hard as a rock. just find a spot that will let you get under it and work slowly from there

First go inside the car and cut the rubber seal next to the glass with a razor knife. Then you can push the glass and the trim out from inside the car without damaging anything. No special tool needed.

Thanks Royce. I’m going to give that a shot when I get home. As for the front, since I have the trim off, should I just cut around the glass and push it out? The windshield has to be replaced anyway.

That is the best way if you have to replace the rubber anyway.

What about the metal trim pieces at the base otje window how do you remove that?

The trim inside at bottom of the rear windshield

I would just remove them with my hands.

It doesn’t move put pry tools nothing works cant get to bottom of the seal

The metal trim pieces are held in place by screws that go down through the metal of the package tray. You will need to remove the fiberboard package tray to expose the screws.
