Hello, I have to change the roof but it’s a sun roof car it’s from Florida’s coast and it can be saved,I have the whole top I got from wccc. I’ve seen wccc video for the skin ,I’m considering cutting the four corners and changing the whole top,or possibly the skin and panel pocket as one, asking how others may have done it.
Unless the structure has real problems do the skin only. Being that is a uni-body, believe it or not the roof structure actually helps act as a frame. If you lack the confidence currently I say just wait. MANY folks have been waiting years for this skin to become available so you will soon see others sharing their results including sunroof owners.
Has any one tackled a roof skin with sunroof-?
One of my customers is doing it next week.
I am in the process of reskining the roof on my Sunroof G car. I was able to obtain the complete roof off of another sunroof cougar. My original sunroof assembly on the car was also toast not to mention the skin. I’m not sure how a\hard it would be to do the skin and merge the sunroof onto a new skin but it looks rather heft.
Zogman yours sounds just like mine I also have a whole top I’ll watch for your progress.
Randy,
Here are a few pics for you to chew on. I am also repairing parts of both rear lower roof skins and the part between the trunk and the rear window so this is a serious project for me.
Feel free to ask any questions. Good luck.
Zoli
I believe the way your going about it is best, I was concerned about the top oil canning from the weight of the slider pocket but it looks pretty stable on the floor.
OMG, I just went through this with the only clean 67/68 roof I could find in the Northwest and had to cut it short above the lead lines and graft it in because my donor was cut out to high.
The day we finished welding it I get an email from WCCC that the Dynacorn roof skin is now available. I wanted to cry!!
Zogman how are you making out.
Slow going. Lots going on in life so the car sits. I did replace an inner structure piece a couple weeks ago and it turned out great. I received the panel between the trunk and the rear window so it’s time to start drilling out some spot welds. I’ll post something up when I get to that part.
Thanks.
Hello, how are you making out with your roof change out
