'68 "W-block" 427 on CL - is it real?

Spotted on CL. Not sure how accurate the description is, or if it is really a 427 side oiler. But I figure if it is real then someone here will know it when they see it, and maybe be interested.

1968 427 ford side oiler W-Block - $5000

This motor came one year 1968! Fit in ford mustangs, fairlane, galaxy, mercury cyclone, cougar.etc. motor runs great, does not smoke and runs great. Was put in a 1969 ford truck that was used as a farm truck. It was used to bring the hay out of the fields, and feed the cows. This is a W-block One year only 1968. I.D. #9024 This is a side oiler long block.

Notice the truck exhaust manifolds bolted at 12 and 6. He needs to come up with more casting #'s and pics…

Possible marine engine???

The W means it was cast on the West foundry at Dearborn Rouge plant. If it was cast on the East line it would have an E in that place.

This is one clueless person. That block could be any size FE and is likely a 352 or 360 CI pickup truck engine based on the oil filter adapter.

According to Ford there were 3000 W code 427s built for 1968. After the GTEs and service engines and blocks the rest went to marine sales.

Thanks fellahs! I thought it was probably bogus, but you just never know - which is why I brought it to the experts

Mike, you must have run across this one as well:

Kinda looks like an E on that one in a pic.

Here’s a good chance at being a real one , in TN somewhere the phone # 828-682-2772 , in case the ad expires.

Has the C70E-A rods so those are legit , cross bolted block , and he states that the heads never came back from the machine shop.
Thats death for someone. $8700 with some extras

I never understood that… firstly, how does a machine shop legitimately lose parts like that? And how does a person seemingly just let it go when “the heads never came back from the machine shop”? I would be knocking on thier door every other day until I got my parts back!
