I’m getting close to finishing the interior and need the experts to tell me if something is wrong with the passenger side dash fascia fitment. The top edge looks correct to the dash pad but there is a 3/8” gap between the fascia and the metal dash. Everything is the same as removed other than paint and dash fascia restoration. Appreciate any suggestions.
It should pull up flush with the metal dash when you tighten up the 5/8" PAL nuts. The driver section also pulls it up tight with the stud on the passenger end.
It could be hanging up on the connection between the A/C ductwork and the center vent.

Thanks for the suggestions Royce and Cathouse. I knew I wasn’t hanging up on anything and had already snugged up a few nuts without any positive movement. Since the fascia was already touching the metal it didn’t make any sense until I remembered the difficulty I had installing a new repo upper dash pad. I believe that it is slightly too far forward so the fascia is at an angle to the metal dash thus pushing the bottom out. So next task is to look into the dash pad mounting and try to loosen it up and pull it out a bit so that the fascia can mount flush. Always grateful for suggestions that can help get on the correct track. Hoping to finally get on the road soon.
I had the same issue with my standard after replacing the dash pad with an aftermarket;
I took a Dremel to gently ease this location until it made contact looks great [quote=“Capt_Crunch, post:1, topic:32140, full:true”]

The wings on either side of the tube should fit tight against the dash sheet metal. You have something interfering with the fit.
Okay, so I’ve been fritzing with this on my off time thinking the dash pad was holding the facia and tweaking it out at the bottom. However, looking real close I saw a couple scratched places next to the holes for attaching the facia. These locations match up with studs that attach the vent to the facia. I had the dash facia professionally restored years back and possibly the studs were replaced with ones too long. So the fix will be to either cut off the excess stud length or more likely drill clearance holes in the dash for the studs. Thanks for the suggestions that finally led me to the fix.
