68 XR7 Interior

Finally getting to redo my interior. I remember John’s Cougars having top notch interiors. Unfortunately the people they were using retired. Does anyone know of a spot that has close to OEM style and color match interior?

If you don’t want one of the vinyl kits you’ll have to find an upholsterer.

Another option is to buy the D.I kits and have a shop make leather inserts from the new kit, using the panels as templates.

I used the full front/rear seat kit from WCCC. Made from saddle material from Distinctive Industries. Two grain patterns are used. I can dig up the names if needed.

My door panels are original and the match with the new vinyl seat material was amazing.

I tried working with a local shop but they couldn’t find a real leather source that would match. Nice father - son team but I requested a “perfect” match. So went the vinyl route.

WCCC has a couple options for carpets too.

Not knocking John’s Cougars, just saying what I did.

Suggest you call John’s Classic Cougars and talk with them. Just looked at their website and they are showing some seat kits in stock with a local made description. I spoke with him late last year and it sounded like he was working on getting a local source available again. When he lost his source he used DI. I’m just wrapping up doing the XR7 seats in my car and lead time was long on my order. Prices have gone up as well.
