Ok, We got my son a set of 3 point seatbelts for christmas for his 69 coupe from mustangs U. he currently has lap belts.
from what I can tell they utilize the factory mount points on the lower stuff and I assume the upper mounting
is under the headliner. but before I start pulling back the new headliner that was in the car when we got it I was
wondering if someone would be able to confirm that.
Other than in the unlikely event that someone removed the mounts, yes they’re in the roof, above the door. You should be able to find them by poking around the headliner with your finger.
Thanks cj750. are they just behind the front of the quarter windows ?
and am I just looking for a nut or something that is welded there ?
I don’t want to pull back the headliner if we don’t have to.
Around 6" back from the top of the quarter window, approx. 1-1.5 inches above the cardboard sail panels.
I can’t recall exactly what they look like, its been quite a while since I’ve had a headliner out. But like a threaded insert in a stamped roof support than a nut, IIRC.
ok without measuring that looks to be where the clothes hooks are mounted, so I’m guessing if it came with lap belts you had hooks & if you had the 3 point it used that mounting point.
All (non-convertible) '69 & '70 Cougars came with shoulder belts. Clothing hooks go directly above the front edge of the sail panel, approx. 4-5 inches forward of the shoulder belt mount.
