I have finally had it with my car not running right when it gets cooler. My choke tube running down to the manifold is broke and needs to be replaced. Looking at the replacement parts, they show two tubes, one for the choke to the manifold and another one. Where does the other one go? I cannot find anything in the manuals about this tube and have not had an luck on the internet looking at photos of engine compartments. Can anyone help (Don from West Coast Classic Cougars directed me here). Photos would be very helpful. Thank You in advance!

Typically, clean air is drawn from the air cleaner housing and taken down to one of the manifold holes, where is is warmed and then sent to the choke mechanism.
I had this same problem with my Cougar build. None of the websites that sell this product have diagrams that show the finished install. Please note my Cougar is a 1970 351W fitted with a 1969 4V carb. Here’s a cut and paste from my build thread…
I figured out the heat riser tube from the passenger side exhaust manifold to the carb. I was missing the piece that threads onto the carb. Tracked down a used one that I sanded down and polished. The pre-bent stainless tubes in the kit do not work with my motor and carb set up. My buddy came up with the idea to just bend some break line into the shape that works with my carb. So I bent up some brake line tubing and flared the one end of it that goes to the carb. Installing it was straight forward and I’m happy how it turned out.

Basically all I used from the kit was the cloth insulation sock. No idea still what that second line is for that the kit comes with. Would like to know if someone can chime in.
Typically the first tube takes filtered air from inside the air cleaner at the top of the carb, and then sends it down to the exhaust manifold to be warmed up.
All I know about the subject I learned from a recently purchased set of exhaust manifolds. The second tube mentioned in the previous postings is the “air inlet tube” and it connects to a chamber as shown below–

The lower connection and the screen look like this when new–

Here is a link to a pdf file written by Bill Upham titled ‘Restoration “How 'to” Rebuilding the Exhaust Manifold Choke’ that shows how the air inlet tube and how to remove and install a new air inlet filter.

Some very enlightening information. Thanks to all that posted here. My one question is why is this not in the manual? Seems important to have, although I think having just the choke tube hooked up and working should be enough. Being that it is missing on most engines seems to be the norm. I’m glad to have found this forum to fill in the missing info.
On a 351 W 2V:
Insulated goes on top of exhaust manifold, the other one underneath.
