I may not be a Cougar owner by the time of the get together, but please let me know about it.
Oh and Bricklyn I seriously can’t wait for the next get together. Only this time hopefully it will be nice weather and we can drive our cats.
Thats the plan!
Looks like my GTO will be sold by the weekend. I’ve decided to narrow my Cougar search to 1969 and 1970 XR7’s with a 351W or 351C, preferably stick, but automatics definitely will be considered. Power steering and brakes are a plus. Must be a rust-free, never rusted, straight, as close to original as possible. Needs to be a good running and driving car that can be considered cruise night quality. No project cars, no heavily modified cars.
My most desired combination would be a Dark Ivy Green 1969 with any color interior except green.
Hey Ed,
You might try using CraigsList Reader Pro. It is free and allows you to search ALL of CraigsList for anything you want. You can specify any / all of the CL regions, and search any / all of the categories.
Another decent site is Jaxed.com. They do the car site searching for you and you just plug in what you are looking for.
Good luck on your search, Sir!
I made a counter offer to the potential buyer tonight. He countered that & I accepted it, so some time next week my GTO is going to its new home. I got good money so I should be able to do the project parts with out stopping to save money for the next phase if I can find something at a reasonable price.
Now its time to get serious about finding a good Cougar. Based on what I’ve seen I think I’m going to wind up having to consider some other kinds of cars. I’m not finding anything that fits my criteria. Now that I’ve figured out inner door panels are pretty much unobtainable and dash pads are so expensive, that is killing off most of the Cougars I find. I can’t deal with a ratty interior after having my Pontiacs. Sorry, but I guess I’m not completely OK with selling the GTO.
Ed, spotted this one and remembered you are looking for a dark ivy cat.
Can’t really tell what color the interior is tho ~ maybe saddle? …most likely green tho :-/
Mike B,
Thanks for that lead. It appears to be a standard, but I might just follow up on that. Thanks!
Ed, Had to laugh last night after you asked if it was OK to sit in my car. First my wife and neighbor ran up to me to tell
me there was someone sitting in my car! Then two more car owners came up to me also. And I believe another asked you what you were doing in someone else’s car. I had to explain to them all later what you were dong. Next time
anyone asks I think I’ll escort them so no potential trouble occurs. It does brings a level of comfort knowing everyone with cars at these shows are paying attention. Hope you find what your looking for!

Mike,
Thanks again. That was good to get the feel of the '67-'68 body style again. I’ve driven a couple in the past but its been well over 10 years since the last time and my son has never been in one. I liked the way it felt and so did Kyle. I’ve expanded my searches to include the early cars, but I still like the '69 best, which is understandable since that was my first car. It was a little strange having all those folks interogating us, but like you said its good to know that we all look out for each other’s cars with that kind of concern. Are you going to be in Downers Grove on Friday?
Ed
Ed, My wife is out of town tonight and we really like doing DG together. However Morris is Saturday night and that is huge!
I arrived last year between 4:30-5:00 and I was approx car #500 twice. They usually get about 600-700 cars! It cost $10 to show but well worth it. They close down the entire downtown with cars everywhere and tons of people!
