I recall many years I recall back reading about the center 2 brackets that support the grill & latch assembly had a mfg issue.
Seems the piece(s) that hold the vacuum motor were spot welded on the wrong side (left piece on R side support or vice versa).
Ive tried to find info here, but no luck.
Maybe some of the “elders” recall this issue. Something was done to resolve it?

I can tell you this. I have built a few hundred electric conversion kits and every year there are a some that do not follow the norm. It seems that the vacuum mount is different and the owner swears its original. I believe them. I call them Friday cars with a few beer cans stuck in the wheel wells. Or, possibly late 69 cars using 70 parts or vice versa?
Jeez, talk about a head ache if you were (ARE!) trying to get the right parts for your headlight / grille assembly >.<
