69 Cobra Jets and radial tires

So not many, less then 1000, per Kevin Marti stats, came from the factory with radial tires. Although a no cost option, through some limited research it seems they were pretty much mandatory on Cobra Jet cars with air conditioning. It would almost seem to be a weight issue? Anyone have any info or details on this?

On my '69 R code vert w/ A/C, tires per the invoice were N/C & are as follows:

F70x14 F/G BLTD TRACTN TRS

The factory invoice on my 69 Cobra Jet conv shows that my car came with Goodyear brand F70x14 "BLTD Tractn tires. My Marti report shows the tires had raised white letters.
