69 Cougar Project

69 mecury cougar I rescued from a field. When I got it it had been sitting on shredded tires and hadn’t run in 12 years. She is now running and driving and I only have to fix the turn signals to be able to get it to pass inspection. Completly replaced the fuel system, brake master, rebuilt carb, etc… obviously still have a long way to go, but I am proud of my progress.

Isn’t it a great feeling when you bring one back!

yeah, it’s kind of addicting honestly.

It is great that you are restoring a Cougar. A lot of people buy a completed car that looks good but even better is restoring a car. I am on my 6th restoring project. I can’t afford to have it professionally restored but substitute love for the car that makes it rewarding.

Good place to start! Its good you recognize the addiction up front - lol!

Welcome to the restoration rabbit hole!

If only that were my experience.

Congratulations, you may have other intentions, but that would make a wicked patina build!

While i do like patina on cars, this one had quite a bit of hack job paint and body work before i got it. Ill have to take it down to bare metal or else risk further rust damage from the crappy body work the guy before me did…
