I am trying to get this all perfect and need to know if my eyes are screwed up or what. I thought the lower dash on my 69 e-cat was supposed to be a dark charcoal metallic, but I swear it is jet black semi gloss. The steering column is obviously dark grey metallic so I think my eyes are right. Help from those of you that know!!
Charcoal Black Metallic. What I did was to look at the back of the glove box door, under the plastic bucket, under a microscope.

Since some of the versions of Dark Charcoal Metallic lacks allot of color many of us first coat the parts with a full nice coat (not too much as it fills in the grain) of semi-gloss black then over coat that with one or two light, full, dry coats of the Charcoal. Too much, again, fills in the grain and can produce a glossy finish.
All of this is applied over metal or plastic stripped of all prior paint.
