69 Passenger side mirror?

I am all about keeping car as original as possible but given that my cougar is the furthest thing from its original state…can anyone recommend a good source for reproduction mirrors?

These are ones I was currently looking at

With those aftermarket mirrors who knows how they will sit on a Cougar door. Probably not very well. I would pass on them. A passenger side mirror became an option for the 1970 model year so that is what I would be looking for. There were 3 styles of left side mirrors available in 1969-1970. There was the base style chrome non remote mirror, a chrome remote mirror and a body colored remote sport mirror. Now you will need to decide if you want to match your current left mirror or if you want to change to a different style.

There is only one repro 1970 sport mirror available and this is it.

They never offered a PS mirror in 1969 but 70 will look right at home on your 69

The fit VERY well and the base is much more durable than the originals which were of a thin casting and soft material.

Don, I was refering to the aftermarket mirrors in the ebay link in post #2. Sorry for the confusion.

Don so are you in agreement that the mirrors I posted from the eBay link are not something you’d use? I scoured your site for a matching passenger side to the one I have on my drivers side. It looks like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

69 Base Passenger Side Mirror

sorry about all the reflections… for comparison to the e-bay units

I have a passenger side mirror NOS not sure what year it is for.

I have become too dependent on having a passenger side mirror. I wanted a chrome one to match the driver side (which never happened on 69/70 passenger mirrors, only color-keyed sport mirrors), so I went with a chrome one from a 69/70/71 Torino (72 and up won’t fit). They use the same mounting bases as Cougar. Photo isn’t great…but you get the idea.

Is it a perfect match? No. Is it factory? No. But, it fits great on the “body ridge” I just had to have it.

You can make it work on the PS but the DS has a unique stamping that will only take the factory mirror.

Hi, new guy here, just my two cents but I installed a passenger side mirror (sport style) on my car and I don’t find it to be very effective. It’s very small, I think using the wink type mirror is more effective.

I found this to be much more effective and it’s not as giant as a wink, https://www.hammacher.com/product/best-no-blind-spot-rear-view-mirror?promo=search
