'69 Power Windows

Hello All,

So I recently drove to work (a 3-4 minute drive) and rolled the drivers side window down. When I got to work the window did not go back up. I then tried the passengers side window… Nothing. The motors are both new and they don’t even make clicking noises or attempt to spin. I pulled the dash out after I couldn’t find any loose wires and replaced the fuse (which wasn’t broken, but I thought what the heck) and the wires back there seem intact as well. At this point I’m at a loss. I figured I’d try here because I would like to have working windows again considering they all worked maybe 2 days ago (if that). Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Get out the multi meter and start checking form the power source and see where you are losing power. Usually the switch is the problem, but having both not working it might be something else. Do the quarter windows work?

The quarters need the window motors rebuilt which I was going to do later this week, but now there’s no sense in rebuilding them if the windows don’t go down anyway. Now I know what a multimeter is but how would I use it to test the wires? I know about how things go back together, but I’m really not all that great with wires.

Dumb question, was the key in the run or accessory position? I’m sure you know this, but… If they are all dead I would check the relay on the R/H shock tower first.

P.S.
I had a 69 with power windows, when I got the car the connector on the drivers door was pulled apart. The windows did not work. I started looking things over. Someone had replaced the starter silenoid, I found the power feed to the windows was attached to the starter post. So the windows only got power when the starter was engaged.

Check the lock switch on the driver side window switch panel That is a problem I have had with similar symptoms.

How do you check the lock switch?
