69 rocker moldings

Has anyone had any luck installing the Dynacorn brand rocker moldings? I cannot get the molding to snap on to the plastic clips that are riveted to the rocker panel, also has anyone figured what the metal strips that came with the moldings are used for? If they are used the bolt pattern on the plates dose not match up to the hole spacing on the rocker panels.

I took mine to a body shop. It takes a lot of hand strength to get them on. They were able to get them on there is a small dent in one of them from installation. Definitely a tough job I don’t think the clips are the best.
