So 2 Christmas’ ago I received a 69 from my step-father. He had initially done some work on it and was driving it when it died. He parked it and he was planning on getting it running again but he never got around to it, so I was talking to him about it last December and he just gave it to me. My wife and I went and picked it up and parked it at our house where I was planning on getting it going again, when unfortunately I was deployed, but I just returned from deployment we got more than we were expecting from our tax return so I get to drop some money into it. The first thing I did was had a mechanic friend of my wife’s take a look at it and see why it broke down in the first place, unfortunately since it sat for so long there were many problems with it and he wasn’t sure what was the initial problem, but he replaced the starter, oil pump (it had a broken rod and water in the oil) and threw a new battery in it, he got it running but it still has a few problems that need to be fixed. the next items on the list are a new carb, possible new cam (not exactly sure about this one yet) and he thinks the valve springs may have collapsed as there is a loud popping sound when the engine hits high RPM’s. Other than those few things there shouldn’t be anything major mechanically wrong with it but there is a lot of aesthetics that I need to work on: The seats are cracked and peeling off the cushioning, he removed the starter and placed it on the floor in front of the passenger seat and it corroded and ruined the floor, the paneling where the door meets the frame is rusted and because it sat so long it actually sank into the ground (he didn’t block it or put it on jack stands, just parked it and left it ) and there is a lot of underbody and lower body rust. I am looking forward to getting some real work on this car, I am unsure of the body type but I know it doesn’t have the original engine in it, the engine is a Windsor 302 4.7l 8 cyl, and it is painted a bluish-green color and has a soft top on it. I will try to find as much info as I can on it and post it up here.
Good luck with the build man! Some one told me it takes a ton of patience and even more cash haha but it is worth it
Sha can you post some pictures. Do you have a convertible or a hard top. If you post the information on the door tag, We can tell you what your car should look like and what motor it had in it if your interested.

Popping huh? Sounds like a cam lobe went down like on mine.
Ok, so I ran the door plate through the decoder, apparently I have a 1968, 2dr hardtop, original color is Madras Blue Poly with a c-4 trans. The engine was replaced but I believe it was replaced with another 289. I will take some pictures and post them soon.
Ok so here are some pictures I took with my phone real quick, I will pull out the good camera in the next few days and take some good pictures. Its still too cold to give it a wash (but its been getting up to 40 recently)and I havent gotten it registered yet since it didn’t run but thats on the top of my to-do list since its going to be running right in the next few weeks. I’ll take more pictures after the wash and maybe a video to show what it sounds like.

You get that carb valve springs thing worked out? Getting some warmer weather there yet?
Is is just the angle or are the front turn signal housings upside down? If they are, then you can officially start the snowball down the hill…while I am fixing these lights, I think I will …
