I am having a problem with my headlights on my 1969 Cougar XR-7. The low beams work but when I click the floor headlight switch the high beams do not work and at the same time the low beams go off leaving me with no lights at all. I replaced the floor headlight switch but still have the same issue. Any suggestions?
Cpuple things to check. Check your grounds to make sure they are set correctly. Check your fuses and wiring to ensure they are connected and not corroded/broke. Check the bulbs to make sure they are not popped or wrong ones. Sometimes the bulbs will break withput you knowing. Hopefully that guves ypu some things to start with.

Check to make sure there is power at the bulb sockets when low, then high, beams are on.
My 68 has just started having the same issue. I went to turn on my brights the other night and they did not turn on and my low beams turned off. I had replaced the dimmer switch in 2023 and a new headlight switch back in 2012 with a Standard Mfg. from WCCC. It could be that it needs replacement but am wondering how you or anyone else resolved this same issue.

Dimmer switch. And fuse. But mine sat for a LONG time.
