Saw this awesome Cougar at Sema last week!
Ok, I appreciate the workmanship involved. However, to my eye, it looks odd without the trim and chrome bumpers. Like “too much comp gold” when you remove those accents.
Maybe if they had just completely blacked out the trim? Or added stripes or something to break up the comp gold?
Yup - black bumpers would have looked great on it imho. Still an awesome Cougar!
As a 1970 cougar convertible owner i can respect the craftsmanship into this car. Perhaps painting the bumpers and the trim in black like mentioned by mike it would make that color stand out more then just all comp gold. Like that 69 convertible years ago when someone put alot of work into it only to put oversized tires on it and make it all one color including the bumpers. Removed the iconic center grille for a blank piece (hand made).
thanks

Great craftsmanship. I’d like to know more about that car. Anybody got a link to an article or know who built it?
Hello. I was posting on the other cougar website and was reading that people have migrated here. I was going to post the back story and introduce myself, but it looks like somebody already beat me to the pictures.
Had this picture in my head for a while and got a builder out of Cypress, TX to help it turn to reality. We were going for a modern version of what a convertible Eliminator would be today with a modern twist.
That is one incredible Cougar! Was the rendering done before the car was built?
It was. I was actually going to do a simpler build, but the first guy totally butchered the paint and metal work. Pulled the car, and it sat for a few years. Then went down a rabbit hole with The Painthouse, who does excellent work. (but you pay for it)
the first rendering. (I know some guys commented on the bumpers. We looked at it and decided to go body color)
I like the body color much better. That is down right sinister!
The pictures I took of it at SEMA didn’t do your car justice! Seeing it in person, beautiful car!
Thank you
Looks awesome, love the modern powertrain too. Maybe not too modern since it’s been a while for the triton motors. 32v 5.4?
Every time I see a build like this I think damn that had to cost a ton to build with all the custom work. The level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to get a car that clean and put together is not easy nor cheap.
However considering what a new car costs today it’s probably not far off and you have a unique car that you don’t see everyday and will last longer then stuff on the road today.
More folks should spend the money for illustration
s . Would save more than it costs when moving a car from shop to shop. Build it to your blueprint , not each shop.
