What color is the bell housing supposed to be? Mine is black with hints of blue after power washing. The car has been under our jurisdiction since 78 so if it’s been painted, it must have been early in its life. Thanks in advance.
The housing had blue over spray from when the motor & it were painted as an assembly. The CJ428 site shows details, but I dont have a link. It was NOT fully painted.

Thanks Bill, I’ll have to replicate that apart from the engine cause it’s a little tough to do on an engine stand…. That corporate blue sure fades to baby blue over the decades.

Bare metal cast iron, with some engine blue overspray on it, blue near the engine sides and top just a inch or 2 from the edges…
