OK I give up - what’s a dog house and how does it come off?

I just assumed I was the only one who didn’t know and was embarrassed to ask

From what you can see , that car looks really solid

He probably means it’s stripped down to the inner aprons and radiator core support.

It does look like a solid car and almost identical to one Don has had in his Cougar junkyard for years. Depending on how much rust there is, this could be a steal. It’s priced less than I paid for my similarly equipped sunroof car 14 years ago which also needed a complete restoration.

I must be missing something but it says the listing isn’t available anymore… Hmmm…Wonder if someone here bought it…

thanks

it’s old trucker slang back when their was early COE trucks and the cover over the engine in the cab was called the dog house. You guest it- looks like a dog house when removed. Now on the modern trucks with the flip front integrated hood/fender is referred to as the dog house. Same concept for a van that has the removable cover over the engine in the interior is the dog house.
In the add I would assume the dog house refers to the front clip, hood, fenders grille are removed.

Yes I agree with your assessment. I call the engine cover on my E350 van the dog house all the time. I think it’s more appropriate though to call it that in a Van because it actually is a little shell that houses the dog! (5.4 -2 valve)I don’t think the 351 Cleveland has ever been referred to as a Dog! I’ve owed a couple of them in the years past including one with closed chamber 4v Boss heads, and it was anything but a dog!

I am picturing all the spot welds drilled and the entire inner fender / front frame rails assembly separate from the rest of the car.

Instead of pictures of what it looked like years ago when it was restorable, why not show how it looks to the buyer picking it up today?
