I have a 73 Cougar XR7. We changed out both shifter bushings. Tightened the linkage and put the car down to discover the steering column now rotates with the shifter as you move it. At some point in the process I saw the column flexing which startled me but i’m not exactly sure when that was happening. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks.
