I would like to replace the ignition coil in my base 67. I know that the 67 does not have a ballast resistor and uses the pink wire. The car had the pertronix igniter 2 points in it when I bought it. Does that system require removing the pink wire? I am trying to understand if I need a coil with or without an internal resistor. Also what do you suggest for a quality reliable coil? I have the rocketman tach in the dash with a filter and have had both go bad and were replaced under warranty. I am concerned that when the coil heats up it send a distorted signal that is breaking them. On longer drives on warm days the tach would become erratic. I installed a filter based on a recommendation from the tach company and it worked fine for a few rides and then went bad. Hence I would like to replace the coil and see if that makes a difference.
