I was checking my daily updates for parts searches, and there is a Talbot mirror listed, that needs restored for 1000, or best offer. Also a 70 convertible, on a rotisserie for 10K. In Florida. Just passing these along-
Cougars had Raydot mirrors. No Talbot mirrors were ever installed on Cougars when they were at the dealer or new.
I thought the G cars got a Talbot mirror? I don’t recall seeing the ray dot name-
You may be dreaming.
Funny, The CCOA XR7-G page calls it a Talbot mirror.
XR7-G | The Cougar Club of America
Well that is totally wrong.
It is interesting that for decades we were told that mirror on XR7-Gs were Talbots. But for the first time we are now being told they are Raydot mirrors. As you are a very knowledgeable on this model, when did this revelation happen? Do you have the documents? Regardless, it looks like the G page at CCOA needs to be updated.
Maybe 25 years ago Tom Cherry pointed out the differences. They are many. Talbot mirrors were optional on the Shelby Mustangs. Raydots are very different and they were standard on the XR7-G, the Hurst Olds 442, and the Rambler Scramblers.
But which of the two are cheaper (if you don’t care about originality)

That florida 70 convertible , the guy said if it does not sell he will start parting it out. I dont know if it was that bumble bee design before this tear down or a different car. I met the guy 10 or so years ago at the sunshine state cougar club gathering and he mustve been drunk as they were doing a trivia and i said the answer and his resonce was I BET THIS GUY DOESNT EVEN OWN A COUGAR.! The members jumped on his case and told him i been a member for quite some time and i own a 70 convertible.
thanks

The Talbot mirrors are more plentiful so they are going to be a little cheaper.
Saw that G mirror too. Very rough condition. I would rather buy one from Don at WCCC.
