James Hook and I sat down for a few and talked of the early days in this video. Give James a follow on youtube. Many of you have bought parts from him on ebay over the years.
Don that was great! I remember the first time I met you at the Concord, CA CCOA Nationals - maybe 1997? You told me and my wife that you were going to open a Cougar parts business and that it would be the best one around.
Hey Don! Kim & I enjoyed watching the video and WOW - what a story! Good ol’ American work ethic…you’ve gotta be mighty proud of your accomplishments - and deservedly so. (Oh and it was great to see my old Indiana license plate behind at your right during the interview ).
Thank you SO much for all you’ve done for our Cougar community.
God bless you and all yours!
Brings you and your company to a personal down to earth level. This is very rare today and proud to be a customer. The information that is freely available on your site and YouTube channel is invaluable to the cougar owner.
Kinda hope you do move into more restromod parts even if it’s slowly. So many great products out there to improve on the cougar platform.
Couldn’t have said it any better than that! I’m just glad Don moved on from his first car, because I’m not sure how many of us would have been customers at West Coast Classic Mavericks.
Ha - the purpose for sending you one of our IN plates was two-fold: it was intended as a small gift to show our appreciation for all your efforts and to get Indiana represented on one of your walls . We had NO idea it’d appear in one of your videos until you told me to watch for it in the (then) upcoming YouTube presentation of the new line of Scott Drake Cougar wheels. You can imagine our surprise when AH! THERE IT IS!
Great to hear your story Don - inspirational to say the least.
I can certainly relate to your feeling of being “unemployable”.
You find a unique way to earn a living, usually when you are youngish with lots of energy and then thirty years later you realize you are way way out on that limb and well past the point of return.
And I will see if I can dig up and send you a new “40th Anniversary” poster that is not ripped…
Exactly right - and after 30 years, you can get far enough up in the tree that the fall can be painful! Nice thing about what Don is doing is he can stay as involved as we wants as long as he wants!
Thank you! In my line of work we call that earned patina and it is arguable that is may just add value! Did you the Dyno Don KK poster in the background?
Great start! I have one sitting in the garage now waiting to be installed! This is something that will appeal to alot of owners that want to get away from a carb.
