After replacing my York Compressor and Clutch with new components, I find that my Clutch is no longer engaging properly when switched on. Tested the OE alternator and it is putting out only 11.8 V. But before I go and replace this, do you think that the Voltage Regulator could also be the culprit? Would rather replace the VR first but in terms of the order of things, not sure what to look for there.
It’s worth noting that when i put a power booster on the clutch engages every time.
Connect the clutch wire directly to +12volts at the battery. The clutch should click in. If not you probably have a bad engine ground especially if you painted the compressor. Run a jumper wire from the clutch brush assembly metal to battery negative. You should hear some activity even at 11 volts.
