I put on a different throttle cable bracket that is much cleaner looking than the mess I have had for years. But it changed the pedal position, pulled it closer to the floor. It “works”, but it is wrong in that position.
Can I get the pedal back out where it is supposed to be? Gonna insert a couple photos. Thx.
I had to do this on my '68. 67-68s are mechanical linkage, but the process should still work. Wedge a piece of wood shim or something between the top of the throttle shaft and the back of the engine block. Now you can use a large pipe, prybar, etc. on the gas pedal end of the throttle shaft to bend it back slightly. This should maintain the correct geometry at the throttle cable while bringing the pedal up higher for you.
Maybe you can just get the geometry back to where it belongs by modifying an original mount to fit the Edelbrock carb? From the way it look this probably won’t have enough travel to even open up the throttle all the way. Alternatively Lokar makes a great kit that will probably get you there.
Thx Bill. The original mount square hole for the cable is not far enough away from the carb. Need four inches with the Edelbrock set up and a/t kickdown arm linkage.
The picture with chrome pieces works great. Just not as clean as I would like.
