I’m adding power windows to my 69 XR-7 using a complete wiring harness from another car.
Can anyone help me with pictures of where exactly the power window relay mounts - near the solenoid, the routing of the main power wire from the relay to the firewall and where it goes through to the interior?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Power windows are a fairly rare option, and 1969 was the first year, so this might be a tough one. I believe that Bob has power windows in his convertible and he did a super job documenting the build. You might send him a PM and see if he has any photos. (69xr7vert).
Other than that, you might be able to get the 1969 electrical assembly manual and find what you need in that. I believe that WCCC sells those. I bought all of them for '67 and and '68, and I use them all the time.
Here’s a picture of the power window relay on the right side shock tower in my 70. I’m pretty sure it’s in the same spot on a 69.
Great pic! Thank you
I don’t suppose you have one showing where it goes through the firewall?
I don’t but I’ll check and see if I can get a good angle on that shot. It follows the right side shock tower brace and goes thorough the firewall with the main loom.
Ok, here’s a picture of where the power window wiring goes through the firewall on my 70. When looking at the picture, it’s on the right side of the shock tower brace and below the red “P” sticker, above and just to the right of the main wiring loom.
I can’t thank you enough! That really helps.
I’m curious what are the blue and red wires that are between the power window and main loom? I don’t think I have those.
I think you caught me in a lie. The red and blue wires are going to the power window relay on the shock tower. The other wire I referenced earlier is the sunroof power.
I have a 69 XR7 with power windows. I can shoot some pics when I get home to verify if you are interested?

Thanks for the offer. Actually, I’ve been thinking about the effort required to do this whole job and am seriously considering selling the whole lot and sticking with the old manual windows.
It took a while to do it, but I have to say it was one of the most rewarding mods I did to the car. Once you have it in and working I am pretty sure you will love the power option.
