Adjusting Locking Pawl on 1967 Tilt Column

I have disassembled the tilt column on my 1967 to repack the bearings and clean and paint the various pieces. Reassembly seems straight-forward other than the adjustment of the locking pawl that goes on the rod to the vacuum motor. When mine came out, it was not screwed all the way on. I forgot to measure it for the exact fit. Is there a particular adjustment to the length to make sure the vacuum motor properly engages the tilt function? I would rather not find out by trial and error constantly disassembling the column.

Also, does the beveled side go facing the little plastic bumper or away from it?

Thanks!
Robert

Maybe this Ford MPC image will help with the orientation of the ( beveled side ) locking pawl within the column ? I have a 1969 Cougar with Tilt / Tilt-away ( so some of the components look familiar ) - is the locking pawl 3E520 in this illustration and the adjustment made with the threads on 3E514 ? Hope this helps you.

That was exactly what I needed. Thanks so much!
