After market sequencer and LED bulbs

Does anyone know if putting LED bulbs in a 67 with the solid state sequencer will speed up the tail light sequencing?

I want to get the brighter bulbs, but keep the slow sequence

If you look at this video you can see how the speed varies from the LED to the incandescent.

The slow blink seems more laid back to me. The faster blink seems too modern and looks like it is in too much of a hurry.

Thanks,
Robert

I like the brightness of the LED’s. Either speed works for me.
I thought I read somewhere that the solid state controls are adjustable.

Hmmmm, if so, that would be nice. I’ll start doing some research into that idea.

You might check out The Mustang Project for their sequencer, as well, if you are looking to replace everything.

That’s what I’ll be using.

I emailed the folks at The Mustang Project about the sequence speed.
Here is their reply.

No, the sequence speed is not adjustable. If you have a specific speed you
would like to run, for a nominal fee we can provide the desired speed. For
any rate changes, new programming is required.

I was wrong, that’s what I get for thinking before I’ve had enough coffee.
Well it is adjustable, for a fee.

Looks like I’ll just end up buying the LED bulbs and seeing if the Solid State unit knows to keep the speed the same despite the smaller electrical load. I hope it works out.

I have read about people having to put in a load resistor to help systems work with LED’s but that recreates the load I am trying to drop using LED’s…

I installed the aftermarket sequencer and LED tail lamps. The speed is fine slightly faster then stock but looks good. The running lights are not any brighter than stock but the brake lights are… I don’t remember what number of LEDs per bulb I used but they were recommended by the seller to replicate stock. I also installed LED lights in my gauge cluster, not stock looking but they look great at night, no more guessing what my gauges say.

If anyone is interested I can PM you the ebay store I bought the LEDs

I did the guage cluster LED swap, too. Look very nice, though I never saw mine with the stock incandescent type.

What color were the LED’s that you put in the dash? I would like the ebay info you have,
thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, just sent you a PM. The color I used were blue-green, that’s suppose to simulate the stock lights. You need to remove the blue light diffusers.

Hey Tim, would mind just posting the information up I don’t need these now but I might later…

Thanks Tim,
I sent off a pm just to confirm some things about the bulbs.
