Aftermarket radio was installed. It’s a disaster everywhere

I just bought a 70 mercury cougar 351 Cleveland and I see why the stereo stuff wasn’t finished being hooked up. What a freaking massive stuff now I don’t think the sending unit is working and I started up and just heard a tick and shut it off right away, so I have to figure this wiring out. O

Suggest you get a wiring schematic for starters. I got one for my 73 from the link below, invaluable. Also get some manuals, I prefer the CD version over the print books but thats just me.The biggest issues your going to troubleshoot always start with grounds and vacuum

Fully agree with CatsRock. on the use of wiring diagrams and shop manuals. Our friends at WCCC offer a free download. There are better but they cost more and take more time to get.
