Looking for a good choice for a aftermarket steering wheel. Anybody got some suggestions and pictures?

Sorry, I totally spaced out. 1968 Cougar base, however upgrading to XR7 dash.
Are you wanting more of a stock appearing wheel? there are some cool reproduction wheels out there that look cool and fit the appearance of a stock interior. Even wood grain to match the Xr7 dash panel.
Or are you wanting to upgrade and have a more modern feeling wheel? Maybe change the diameter to a little smaller?
DieselD,
Still undecided. Would like to see some pictures showing how it would look.
Well, if you want a cool vintage look, the wheel that came in 1967 Shelby Mustangs was also offered in the “How To Sharpen A Cougar’s Claws” brochure.
It is essentially the Shelby wheel with a Cougar decal in the hub.
There are nice reproduction '67 Shelby steering wheels available but they are pricey.

Philip, I don’t think that steering wheel fits a 1968 Cougar steering column. Would it require an adapter?
Steven
Good question Steven, I’ve never done it so I can’t say for sure.
I’m sure some sort of an adaptor and modifications would be needed, but I would think it is possible since it was meant for a '67 steering column.
I’ve seen '67 steering wheels on '68s but I don’t know if that requires switching out the entire column?

I’ve got a stock 67 wheel on my 68. I posted a “how to” on it a few years ago— I’ll see if I can find it.
Here it is: https://cccforum.discoursehosting.net/t/67-steering-wheel-on-68-tilt/3841/1
This is what I have on my car but I’m undecided if I want to keep it. It was on the car when I got it but it’s a nice wheel, billet alum, leather wrapped and made in USA. I originally wanted to go down to a 14” wheel for easier access since it’s a fixed column but since I got my seats installed they are lower then stock so the 15” wheel isn’t too bad now.
Remember you would need a hub adaptor along with the wheel.
Thanks guys! Really like the Shelby. Keep the pictures coming.
