Aftermarket Wiring harness?

Hello everyone,
I wanted to see if anyone new of an aftermarket wiring harness that will work for a 1970 mercury cougar xr7. Wanted to upgrade the wiring throughout the entire car.

There is no such thing. Install an aftermarket harness and lose the sequential tail lamps. This can be made to work but the ideal solution is to repair what you have. Midlife can do that.

The problem is that the general wiring design used by Mercury was nothing like GM used for their cars and the after market harnesses are really patterned after a mid '70’s Chevelle. This is particularly true for the XR7 where you have a great many things that are not accommodated by the aftermarket harness. The turn signals are a very big consideration and then you have things like the XR7 door ajar, low fuel, and seat belt lights. Then there is the matter of none of the plugs work with Ford wiring. As Royce said have Midlife rebuild your old harness and everything will plug in right and work right and anyone with a schematic can fix it.

Thank you both! I am going to look for midlife and see what he can do for me.

Is it midlife classics?

Nope. Midlife Harness Restorations.

Like these guys mentioned repairing your original is going to be the smartest way to do it. Even a standard cougar has alot more stuff going on harness wise then mustang so no aftermarket options are available. Be careful if one says it will work for both mustang and cougar.
