LMAO…leave it to a hick Okie…
That is quite funny, could have been a little more funny if ol’ Henry’s last name was **K**ord!
On the other hand… wasn’t it just a couple of years back that some young guns on Ford’s legal team had this brilliant idea to start licensing businesses (for a fee, of course) that profited from their use of the names of Ford Products. To some extent I can see the argument, and so did the courts - every repair panel for Ford cars and trucks is shipped with an “Officially Licensed by Ford Motor Company” tag. But then they went after internet sites like StangNet, or Vintage Mustang Forums; which don’t make a lot of money off the name. (I guess StangNet pays its server fees with advertising; don’t know about VMF).
In this whole mess, it came out (true or not I don’t know) that there were thoughts of “pursuing this to the fullest”; taken to mean that you couldn’t advertise your rusted-out 1963 F100 as anything more than a “truck for sale” without owing a royalty to Dearborn if/when the truck sold. The issue has offically ‘gone away’ but maybe this guy thought that it hasn’t.
As an aside, when Ford’s legal dept didn’t start looking at websites like MercuryCougar.net; I kinda had a feeling that our Cats were about to be orphaned once and for all. As if there weren’t enough signs already.
