I just finished the paint on my 69 XR7 Cougar when i went to start it the battery was dead. Jumped the car it started right up but when i pulled the cables the car died. That tells me that either the alternator is bad or the solenoid. But why is my fuse blowing now?

Sounds like a bad alternator
Fuse box inside the car under drivers side 4 fuses, heater, cour, inst, and accy. The Cour fuse blows when i put it in.
Courtesy fuse has nothing to do with the charging system. Most likely, one of your courtesy light socket or wiring has a short.
