Hello All,
My 67 GT wouldn’t turn over the other day. Swapped the battery and the was only reading 12.3V across the terminals while running. So I picked up an alternator and all is good.
I have a few questions: First, the car had a weird miss around 55mph that was completely intermittent. I could go days without feeling it happen. It never happened on acceleration just when cruising along. So my question is, could this have been caused by a failing alternator? I have not had the issue since replacing it. But it has only been a couple of days.
Second, I kept the old alternator since it is a Motorcraft and I’m not sure if it is the original. I thought there would be some kind of stamp on it but I could not find anything. The fan does have the higher blade count.
Third, If it is the original, can you take the guts out of the replacement alternator and use the old casing of the old one or are the internal all different?

Thanks everyone,
Jim
