Alternator wiring harness dilemma

SO my current problem is some idiot cut the alternator harness out of the headlight wiring harness. The car is my 69 eliminator with tac and ammeter. (This is actually how it was in the car, covered with copious amounts of electrical tape)

In order to install a replacement alternator harness from WCCC i need to replace both sides of the alternator harness pigtail.

And im thinking I will replace both sides of the connector with these

Does anyone know the gauge of the wires on the alternator harness? The pigtale kits are typically good for 15-20amps.

If anyone has a better suggestions (Other than replacing the headlight wiring harness) feel free to let me know, all opinions are welcome.

Thanks for looking!

You could try calling WCCC and see if they have a used pigtail with the plug for the end of the under-hood harness. They have a lot of things that aren’t listed on the site. Then you could just splice that in and connect the repro alternator harness to the stock connector.

Im thinking that a completely new pigtail on both sides will eliminate resistance from soldering wires on one side.

Not sure if that waterproof connector will handle the amps from the alternator. They are generally rated at around 20 amps. I’d use a pig tail and some solid butt jointed connectors that are crimped with the correct tool and shielded with some shrink wrap and tape. Crimped connectors are how the factory joined wires

That was my concern too. Thanks for the input!

What a freakin hack job
