I know these cars weren’t built with a high level of precision. Is this gap circled in the pic something anybody has seen before? I don’t see anything in the area indicating a collision. Opposite side has no gap.

Good eye. There’s an obvious attempt to fix that typical rust spot at the overlap on both sides which I’ll be getting into today along with the usual shock tower rust. Possible repair also indicated in that shock tower well.
