Another XR7G on eBay

I saw this XR7G on eBay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-/281781667822?nav=SEARCH
One bid at $30K. Ad seems a little confusing stating that it’s a Hertz car but no sunroof and an X code. It also states that this was one of Royce’s former G’s. It’s a nice looking Cougar.

I have not seen the car but I do know the owner and he is a terrific guy. I would recommend that you give him a call if you are interested in the car.

Beautiful looking car!

Interesting how the 2 G’s on ebay are only 7 serial numbers apart from each other. Same colors and more or less optioned the same but 1 is without a sunroof.

That is interesting on the vin numbers especially compared to my G. The MI sunroof one was built 3-15 and the Canada non sunroof built on 3-18 and 7 numbers apart. MY G was built on 3-21 yet my vin number is about 1,890 units higher. Then I went and looked at the dates. 3-15-68 was a Friday and 3-18-68 was a Monday. The MI G had the be a late Friday build and the Canada G an early Monday build. Guess the Dearborn assembly plant didn’t work over time that weekend

The owner of the G in Canada is a Fordnutz member. I have seen the car myself and it is wonderfully restored. Wayne is a great guy and I encourage any interested parties to give him a call. The number is in the E-Bay ad.

I’m trembling a little bit…

But alas now is not the time, argg!

Scott, what can you tell us about things like the rear view mirror (exterior) exhaust cutout rings, console, seat covers, hood scoop, hood pins and emblems? How much of all this is original to the car?

It’s a lovely combination. Love the Spartan Green

Wayne, the vehicle’s owner, is the best person to speak to about the specifics of the car.
He is a very honest person.

If someone is looking for a project G John has one for sale as well. Non sunroof white with black interior originally. All the G stuff is with the car. Needs a roof installed which he is including in the sale.

Yup just talked to him…he has to remember a few details but all is pretty straight with this car! It was redone, mostly, 10 years ago. He did buy it from Royce and Royce sold/provided him a lot of NOS parts to get stuff right.

It is unfortunately outfitted with vinyl seats like a lot of restored Gs…but it’s a fine specimen!

That it is Brian. If you buy it, I can help to get it on your side of the border.

Wayne bought a lot of the NOS stuff from me that I had purchased from Rich Ladd in 1999. Some of the top level items were an NOS black vinyl top, NOS grilles, NOS tail lamps. The car had no rust ever. Wayne spent a ton of money on the restoration. It is a numbers matching car. The interior is mostly original except the front seat covers.

I’m amazed there isn’t any bidding on this car. It seems like a solid and desirable car. Rather depressing actually.

The first auction had one bid at $30,000. The auction ended with the reserve not met. The current auction currently has zero bids and hopefully that will change. It is a nice car.
