Anyone recommend a cowl cover?

I was considering buying a magnetic cowl vent cover for my 70 Cougar in case I get caught in a rain shower at car shows. Can anyone recommend one?

I bought bulk magnetic material and cut to fit over the cowl. Cheap, easy to use & store. Open trunk & stick to underside during non-use

Cougar Bill, where did you buy that material?

You could contact any sign store.

I don’t recall the place, but I did search internet, and found multiple places. Seemed a bit pricey, but it did 6 Cats.

I buy it by the 50-100ft roll from the local sign company I use that decals our trucks. Its not cheap and can be harder to find in smaller quantity.

I don’t want to ‘rain on anyone’s parade’ ( or their prized ride ) but I really wonder about the efficacy of a rain shield over the 1969 - 1970 Cougar cowl grille. If you’ve ever removed it, along with the windshield molding, clips, cowl to hood rubber seal, etc., in order to access the area ( think Windshield wiper linkage / motor ) then you’d realize that simply blocking the grille isn’t going to stop water runoff from the windshield, past the molding, and into the cavities that are under the cowl grille. It’s just the way it was designed. Unlike the 1967-1968 Cougars with their welded cowl area, the 1969-70 allows for the water to enter this area, and then drain away to the sides, between the back of the inside of the front fenders and over the protruding fresh air intake / plenum. Just my take on the concept of preventing water access to this area.

The magnetic material won’t stop all water, more to keep leaves & junk from getting in there on the 67/8.
It does do a good job on all cats.

I would be willing to send a couple guys some magnetic material if they would like, Just cover the cost of shipping and send me the measurements you would like. I would suggest oversizing it a bit so you can cut down to your preferred shape after.
