Anyone use All Metal??

I’m almost finished welding the replacement roof skin on my Hertz G. I found this stuff called All Metal to use instead of lead filler on the roof seams. Anyone have any experience with this product? I’d rather not have to learn how to lead the seam.

I used it years ago. It was miserable stuff to sand. It clogged the paper very quickly and it took forever to get it to the desired shape. And no, I did not have it all globbed on. I had it spread very close to the shape I wanted.

Thats all i use on my vehicles after i do my welding work. It wont shrink, swell or crack. I have done my 1980 c10 stepside in 2006 and to this day it is still holding out very well. Its not cheap but works very well.

thanks

I find the Rage Gold product to be much easier to work with and more consistent.

+1 for Rage Gold—-excellent stuff

For flexing areas, the All Metal works like a champ, but harder to work with.

I’ve never used it but looked into the product a long time ago. It has aluminum dust in it and that’s the reason it doesn’t sand well and will load up the sand paper or file. Cures very hard and under heat/sunlight with the aluminum in it the expansion rate is different then metal and it will crack and pop around the edges. Putting a vinyl roof back on that might not be as big of a concern as painting over it. I would lay down a good coat of epoxy prime then filler over it would be a better choice between the two options.

I’ve also used it, but only in areas that have been welded, or over an old leaded seam. Like others have said, it’s tough to sand but I have had good results with the product. The Rage Gold is great filler, it’s more of a light weight filler and is a completely different product than All-Metal.
