Looking for experiences in using these
I’ve got a friend with a pair of these. They are pretty handy but his cars are different lengths so he can’t use them on everything.
If you have any specific questions I can answer them or relay them to him. General experience is they’re really handy for tire/brake work. I haven’t used them for anything more than that and even then he’s usually done the setup before I get there so all I have to do is the actual car work.
Depends a lot on what you plan on doing with it.
I have the Quickjack 5000-SLX - While I am happy with it, I don’t think I’d do it again.
For the Cougar, in the time it takes for me get it out of storage, in position and lift the car up, I can put a floor jack under the front cross member (i have the z-ray cross member with lift pad), put jack stands on the front. Move to the back, jack the pumpkin and put jack stands in back. This is on the occasion that I need all 4 wheels off the ground for brake or tire work. Most often I only need the front or back lifted up.
For other jobs, where I need to get under the car, the Quickjack blocks access from the sides. So if I want to work on the clutch or fuel lines for example, I have to go in from the front or back. So I end up using jack stands so I can access from the side.
For my daily driver, Infinity Q50, Wife’s Audi Q5, or daughters CR-V, it’s perfect for the regular oil change, tire rotation and occasional brake job.
I’ve been looking at the Maxjax two post lift. I think that may be a better choice for the work I typically do.
