Anyone willing to look at a car for me in Colorado?

Hi All;

I have recently won an auction on feebay for a car similiar to the one I had in high school. Its a 1969 Torino Cobra with a 428 R-code ram air CJ , I know its not a Cougar but since I already have 3 Cats in the den I figured it would be ok to add a little diversity to my litter. Especially since the Cobra is the same color (Lime Frost) as both of my XR7-G’s.

Anyway, should anyone in reasonable driving distance to Nucla Colorado (zip code 81424) and would be willing to check out the car for me it would be appreciated. I will gladly take care of your expenses and some extra cash for your time. If you can help me out within the next 7 days please send me a PM with your contact number.

Thanks,

Hey Scott,
Nice find! I love the Torino’s as well. Be sure to post some pictures when you get it.

The only people in reasonable driving distance to Nucla, live in Nucla. LOL. Sorry… I would help you out if I could.

Yes, I see Nucla is somewhat remote to say the least. Looks like a three day trip considering the airline schedules and distance from Grand Junction airport to Nucla. I will post some photos upon my return.

I’ve camped at grand junction before after visiting Arches park. Very remote party of CO and dry too, so rust shouldn’t be an issue. Maybe you can contact the CO Cougar club you might get lucky and find a member near there that could look at it. Not a big fan of that body style, but it sure looks like a nice car! I don’t follow the prices of them, but at that price I would think you got a great deal.

1968-69 428CJ torinos and cyclones are about the best buy out there when it comes to real thumping Big Block power ! Great find and good luck with it.

Sorry, 11 hour drive away from me. You could always fly into Hopkins-Montrose County Airport and have the seller pick you up. (only 3 miles away)

I have just booked my travel. Its a 3-day trip due to the Delta airline schedule. All their flights arrive in Grand Junction at 9:15pm and the choice to leave the next day are at 6:15am or 1pm which dosen’t allow for the 2 hour drive each way to get to the car. At least I will get to see some of Colorado.

As requested a couple of photos of the car and a couple of the scenery from the 110 mile drive in the mountains and canyons between Grand Junction and Nucla. The car was a pleasent surprize unlike most you get off feebay. Numbers match, rust free thanks to no salt in CO. even the pot metal trim is pit free it still has its original mufflers with the C9… numbers and smog system. It is missing the chrome tips on the exhaust but it appears the clamps are original may ford dropped forgot to put them on and put the GT turndowns on instead. I only have to return the interior back to originalfront bench seat configuration and color, detail the engine compartment and drive it.

Very nice!!! Apparently there is someone near me that has two of them. One is a nice rust free car, but a shell and the other is a complete car, for around $2000. Would make a nice project, but yours is hardly that, just as it sits.

Nice looking car Scott. I’m kinda jealous! :gaptooth:
