AOD TRANSMISSION

I just ordered the AOD transmission conversion kit for my 67 cougar
It will be mated up with an 87 mustang AOD.
Is the 67 & 87 torque converter the same.
What converter do get to mate up with the conversion kit? A 67 or 87? Thanks Thanks

You need the 87 converter.

And you will need a larger flex plate , like one from a 351W

Make sure you get the correct AOD flexplate or you’ll toast the front pump on the transmission within seconds. Ask me how I know.

Thanks. I ordered the AOD conversion kit from WCCC. It has the flex plate. So what torque converter do I use? A C4 or A converter for the1987 AOD? Or are they the same?

Speaking of the AOD conversion, does anyone have a wiring diagram to show how the neutral safety switch and reverse lights should hook up? I purchased my car with the AOD, but neither of those things seem to exist on my car. I already have to yank the shifter to change it from non-console to console and put in the correct light, so I figured I should tackle all of those things at once.
