Autolite 4300 Dashpot

Well,

In the process of rebuilding/restoring everything under the hood, I’m to the carburetor. My car is a 68 J-code AT/PS/PB/AC. I guess the first question, does a dashpot even belong? From what I’ve read, it does. Second, what is the part number? I’ve yet to make a trip to Autozone/Advance/… to see if they carry them, but my internet searches do not look promising. Third, where to get this and the bracket? I know the 68 dashpot and bracket are different than the 67s.

I haven’t tried to call WCCC. That’s next week.

Thanks,

Greg

Thanks catlover.

Is this from a '68 carb, or a '67? I ask because my restoration book makes me think it’s a 67 (see attachment). The 68s look like they had a longer shaft and a different bracket. Actually, it looks like the the 68 bracket is just bent out a little bit.

I would think you could use either one, or combination of them, there is plenty of adjustment in both to get them to do their job.

Restoration book? What restoration book??

That looks like Bob Mannel’s. Mustang and Ford Small Block V8…a bible of information!

Yes. It’s Bob Mannel book. I have learned a lot. “Mustang & Ford Small Block V8 - 1962-1969” volumes 1& 2.
