I am installing my leaf spring back on to my rear axle assy. According to the shop manual the torque specs are 30 to 45ft lbs. It seems to me that I keep tightening and tightening the nuts and can’t even get to 30ft lbs. I am assuming that it is because of the new insulators around the leaf springs that haven’t been completely compressed yet?
I use an impact wrench and tighten them until there is equal threads showing below the nuts and about 1/4" between the shock mounting plates and the pads on the axle housing.
