Best spacer for vapor lock that let's hood close.

The car tends to get vapor locked if it sits for 5 minutes before I start it again.

The 1’ spacer is to tall, hood won’t close.

Everyone says that they have a heat proof spacer but many don’t work as well as advertised.

I’m trying to avoid running a fuel return line if at all possible. The carb and intake are both edelbrock. Specifically does the one that’s .32 inch thick one fit?

Gasoline will start to vaporize at as low as 36C or 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Have you looked into heat soak spacers made with phenolic plastic as a consideration if not already?

Those phenolic spacers may help a little, but aren’t going to solve the problem. Take a look at this:

If you have a radiator for the engine and a cooler for the transmission, why not a cooler for the fuel?
Put a bypass on it for Winter driving.

I use one of these https://www.edelbrock.com/heat-insulator-gasket-for-divided-4150-square-bore-0-320-thick-9266.html and it has helped a good deal. Nice and thin. However, I still get some heat soak issues; at least they only amount to some extra cranking as opposed to getting stranded.

I used a similar gasket that extends under the front fuel bowl. I insulated the fuel line from the pump to carb.
I also now only use non-ethanol gasoline which has solved many other issues as well.
No more fuel vapor isses.

vapor lock sucks here in az with our heat and finding non ethanol fuel is almost impossible anymore locally. carbs are neat and all but not neat enough for me to want to deal with the issues often. EFI is the next thing on my list so I can drive without worry of carb problems.
