Just the instrument gauge cluster and passenger side opening
What about this:

Those were never wood grain. The only wood grain pieces on an xr-7 that need the camera case/pebble finish are two dash openings, radio bezel, and console insert.
The black radio bezel and console insert are available as mustang parts and are very available
For an Eliminator the convivence light panel gets a solid cover that is reproduced by Daniel Carpenter. There are a few 1970 Eliminators that received the headlights on warning that will have the light panel exposed as that is where the warning light is located.
The metal facia for the instrument cluster is all the same for standard, XR-7 and Eliminator. They just received different finishes. They are different between 1969 and 1970 though.
The metal facia for the passenger side is mostly the same. There is a thin backer piece that is the same for all as it has the hole for the clock. The face piece over that backer is different between standard and XR-7/Eliminator due to the clock hole. When someone is trying to make an Eliminator passenger side facia piece they need to start with one from an XR-7 to get the clock hole. Then they need the âCOUGARâ emblem from a standard panel to replace the âXR-7â emblem. And just to clarify the clock hole is not just a hole in the panel. It is a stamped hole that has a lowered lip around it for the trim ring to seat against.
I have brand new Eliminator camera case material here. I just relisted a set on ebay last night. The grain is a little finer than the original but it is as close as could be found avaiable today.
I do not think that the console inserts are blacked out. My 1969 Eliminator has the standard style woodgrain console insert. That is what was there when I bought the car 40+ years ago. Perhaps Dave will add his knowledge on that item to our discussion.

Just a FYI but our two 69 eliminators do not have woodgrain on the consoles. April & May built cars. Been like that since the mid 80âs. They both have consoles listed on the invoice.

The four lights that would be found on the center of the dash pad on a âstandardâ 1970 Cougar are from left to right 1. BELTS 2. FUEL 3. DOOR and 4. LIGHTS. These were all incorporated into the instrument cluster on both an XR7 and an Eliminator. They shared the same main wiring harness, meaning that âallâ Eliminators would have left the factory with the blackout plate in the center of the dash pad regardless of other options. The locations in the instrument cluster are as follows.
1. 3rd pod from the left (Tachometer) lower left
2. 1st pod from the left, far left replacing âALTERNATORâ light which is not needed with the Alternator charge gauge.
3. 4th pod from the left, far left replacing âOILâ pressure warning light which is not needed with the Oil pressure gauge.
4. 3rd pod from the left (Tachometer) lower right
The tachometer is in place of either the âblankâ pod or the optional clock, which on both an XR7 and an Eliminator is in front of the passenger. The two additional gauges are both placed in the same pods as the respective âidiotâ lights along the top which was also blank on a standard.
As to console inserts. I believe that camera case should be the norm, but I am not surprised to see woodgrain as well. I do not know if this was due to shortages at any given time or other factors.
Very good information there. I will update when progress is made.
Iâd definitely be a buyer of a quality camera case appliquĂ© set
Bone Yard Pickins has some camera case material for sale on Ebay, If youâre looking for material.

WOW. Good to know, thanks.

Are you talking about a âStandard Base non-Eliminator 1969 Cougarâ That is not true.
Those 4 center dash lights left to right are,
PARK brake warning light
LOW FUEL warning light
DOOR AJAR warning light
4th light is not used
I corrected the post to 1970 only. I did not double check the 1969 center lights sequence.
