big block 4 speed, auto cross member's

Very nice Original Ford 428CJ, 390 4 Speed Transmission Cross Member for a 1967 1968 1969 1970 Ford and Mercury Cougar. , bead blasted, primed and painted satin black. $250. I also have a 390 auto and small block C6. location Iowa.

Whats different about it? I thought the 4speed and c4 mounts were the same?

Incorrect. C4 and big block 4 speed are different for sure, the big block one is deeper. The C4 one is the same as small block 4 speeds. Many people paint these black, but they were originally natural metal. So if you want to properly restore them, blast to bare metal, tumble, and then oil. Thanks, Taylor Restorations

How do the 4 speed cross members compare to an FMX cross member?

Edit above. My question is: how different are the C6 cross members compared to the FMX versions? I struggling to tell the difference.

Yes, I know… High jacked thread, but at least I’m keeping it fresh.

The C6 is deeper, if one could use a FMX on a C6 ,it would raise the back of trans. up against floor.

The C4 crossmember will work with the Top loader behind a big block. It doesn’t cause the transmission to touch the floorboard. What it does do is raise the trans up about a half inch in the shifter hole in the driveshaft tunnel and about a 1 degree change in driveshaft angle.
